ISDA COB GARDEN BENCH WORKSHOP
February 15, 2014 @ 10:00 am - 5:00 pm
WHAT: The International Sonoran Desert Alliance (ISDA) invited and funded me to come teach cob (hand-built earthen construction method) to staff and youth interns. They hope to use this new knowledge and experience to construct other cob projects at the same and other ISDA locations. The cob bench is the central focal point of a garden labyrinth, the path of which will be defined by herbs and other plantings. The bench is an S shape with seating on 2 sides, with a backrest in between, to accommodate garden visitors and ISDA staff during meet sessions with those they serve in the community.
WHEN: Saturday February 15th, 10:00am-5:00pm
WHERE: Ajo Community Garden on Cameron Street
ETC: The stone foundation was constructed Feb 11th by ISDA staff and interns Morgana, Christine, Wendy, Jane, Bobby, Kyle, and another vivacious intern gal whose name I can’t recall. In March, the bench will be plastered and decorated.
