HARVEST PLANT WALK

November 22, 2014 @ 10:00 am - 12:30 pm

Take in the breathtaking beauty of the back side of the Catalina Mountain range, spectacular in early-winter light.  There may be water flowing in various washes in the park too, if early winter rains have blessed us.   Observe plant life less common on the valley floor (~2000′) at this higher elevation (~3000’+) in the foothills and washes of the mountains, including elderberry, ash, sycamore and cottonwood trees, and huge, ancient mesquites.   Enjoy the colors, smells, and textures of this lovely season.   Autumn colors may be on display for the viewing too!

WHEN:  November 22nd, 10am-12:30pm

WHERE:  Catalina State Park, N Oracle Rd, meet near entrance kiosk

HOW MUCH:  $10 per person, up to ten people. $7 Park entrance fee (1-4 adults/car) supports this precious resource.  Please CONTACT me to sign up, and pay fee day of walk.

ETC:  Wear comfortable/sensible walking clothes and shoes.  Bring personal gear you need, like walking stick, water bottle, snax, sun protection, extra clothes, pack, camera, first aid, etc.  Bring supplies for notes and drawing if desired.  Please arrive 10 minutes early so walk starts on time.  Carpool if possible.

OPTIONAL:  Bring your lunch for after walk and before art project.  Make a small wreath of desert plant pods and parts to celebrate the Fall harvest season.  From 1-2pm, $8 per person, up to ten people, all materials provided.
